Territories Association and Social Innovation (ATIS) - Aquitaine: ATIS, created in 2010 thank to the initiative of the ESS actors, brings ideas and concepts since the emergence phase until the creation phase in Aquitaine. To accomplish its mission, ATIS represents 3 areas: the Factory of Initiatives, including the ideas collected in the territory, which do not have project owners, the Incubator of social innovation and ESS for the project owners, who have ideas, which are socially innovative and enable the creation of jobs and the Local Support Measure, which aims to develop the network and to back employers’ associations wishing to expand. Enercoop - Languedoc-Roussillon: It is a cooperative society of collective interest, which was created in 2005 and plays an active role on the entire French territory. Enercoop is the only supplier of electricity 100% renewable and cooperates directly with the producers. The status of a cooperative society of collective interest (SCIC) implies democratic governance, i.e. one person one vote. Initiatives for a Solidarity-based Economy (IES) - Midi-Pyrénées: It is a cooperative society of public interest based in Toulouse. Since 15 years, IES is engaged in financing and supporting socially solidarity-based companies. Thanks to its activities, IES enables the creation of jobs and plays a key role in the local development. Since its creation in 1998, 87 companies (including 14 insertion companies) have been financially supported with 1,550,986 Euros, which represents 676 jobs created or maintained. La Boite à Champignons - Ile-de-France: La Boite à Champignons (company labelled ESUS*) proposes an innovative economic model, i.e. circular economy adapted to urban agriculture. It recycles coffee grounds to grow mushrooms called “Monte Cristo oyster mushrooms”. Basically, La Boite à Champignons uses coffee grounds, a urban organic waste, to grow mushrooms. Once the mushrooms are collected, the crop waste is used to enrich the poor soils. Additionally, it sells bags to farmers and that enables them to grow mushrooms and have additional incomes. It merchandises also the so-called “mushrooms box”, which enables private individuals to grow their own mushrooms. La Boite à Champignons reduces to the minimum its environmental impact on the territory and brings environmentally-friendly solutions to the city. The weavers Iban of Rumah Gare - Malaysia: This project, led by Doctor Welyne Jeffrey Jehom, comes in support of the Weavers IBAN, whose majority is composed by women, with the aim to develop the sale and the weaving of traditional textiles. The traditional textiles, called “Pua Kumbu”, are recognized by the public as remarkable pieces, which require ancestral skills and lots of time to be produced. The pieces of textile are sold at a right price, which grant the weavers a decent salary. The development of this project allows the preservation of the IBAN culture and enables to contribute to the development of the local community.
