Thanks to its membership, RHSF implements various projects to collect the required information that will help it best understand the relationship between a company and its subcontractors across different sectors (textile, agriculture, electronics, etc.). RHSF also develops innovative solutions to promote the right to decent work for all.
To actively fight against forced labor, individuals can change their consumption habits. Indeed, it is by consuming without asking questions about the origin of the product that encourage individuals, often unconsciously, the practice of forced labor.
- In a crisis context, consumers tend to lead to low-cost consumer products without asking essential questions: who manufactured the product? Under what conditions? Which suffered the impact of this willingness to buy cheaper? How do we arrive at such low prices? By asking these questions, checking the origin, labels, learning about risk countries where the practice of forced labor is common, the consumer can make an informed choice. The longer the subcontracting chain, the greater the risk of forced labor is important.
- The consumer should refuse to buy counterfeit goods. By definition factories that manufacture counterfeit products are illegal. Where does the money that funds these plants (often drug money or illegal activities), who works in these factories (the most vulnerable workers and who, because the plant is hidden illegal , can not defend themselves ..)
- The consumer should refuse, even at their request, to use undeclared and / or undocumented personnel. This staff is so dependent on you and he has no freedom of movement. The sources of forced labor originate in illegal work. You can promote pouvoyeurs networks of forced labor. Why is this person not his papers, how does it arrive in France, by what circuit, which are intermediate ....?
- The consumer must be vigileant on signs of forced labor around him ... retention of identity papers, signs of violence, very important work hours, conditions unacceptable life, are indicators that should keep you alert
